Children who lives in the streets.
Street children are the people who lives in the streets, roads and mostly they are homeless and shelter less. They have to face a lot of difficulties in their regular life. From dawn to dusk they roam around the streets, parks, footpaths tries to collect food or sometimes remains hungry. Children sometimes show fake disability of their body to earn money or in some cases they’re really disable. All these things are to earn some money and prevent hunger. These distressing children mostly are bound to do labour because they have families to feed where they don’t have any earning member. They work in roadside restaurants, halls, hotels, tea stalls and various others places. They get harassed physically and mentally through the owners or lords in their workplaces. Sometimes they don’t get the payment as their labour or time. They’re forced to do overtime but aren’t paid accordingly. Salary of these jobs are also too low that they hardly can arrange the meal for themselves. Their miseries knows no bound. Some of the street children choose begging instead of labour . In capital there is a quorum of people who takes advantage of the distressed children of streets. These people captures children make them disable through cutting or breaking hands, legs scratching their bodies, making them blind also. These is the worst act of mankind I have ever seen. In search of money they don’t even spare these little angels of god. Children of the streets usually get addicted to drugs. Of course the situation forced them to. They earn money all day long through various ways and spend the money in addiction. Sometimes they skip their main regular meal for addiction. These addiction are destroying them both physically and mentally. They even do the worst drugs by using syringes and other stuffs. These acts are making them unhealthy and cause serious diseases.
Children also works in the jams of the streets. They washes the cars of the jam while stuck in the jam with or without the permission of the owner. They earn a very small amount of money from this task. People sometimes don’t want to go give money to them and behave rudely with the children. Children of the streets used to live in the streets. They beg and work all the day spends the night in bosti area. The children often dont have parents or earning member in their families. So they don’t have clothes, shoes and other basic things. Sometimes they beg for their basic needs.
Education is one of the main basic need one should get. Street children are seriously deprived of education. They don’t get any academic lessons. So most of them remains uneducated. Their families also don’t worry about the education. But in recent times some of the people are trying to teach primary education to them free of cost. But the number is very low.
Due to maintaining unhealthy lifestyle street children are suffering from destructive diseases. Such as, HIV/AIDS, jaundice, diarrhoea , various skin diseases etc etc. Some of the diseases also led them to cancer. They don’t have home to spend the night. Most of them are homeless and shelter less. While any kind of natural calamities they suffers the most. Scarcity of food, pure water, clothes arises. Many dies failing to survive in odd situation. Government and non government bodies plays a simple role for them which is obviously not enough. And the saddest part is they are not getting appropriate treatment for the disease. Some are also mistreated.
According to United Nation’s (UN) estimation, there remain about 150 million street children worldwide. More than half of them are exposed to the worst forms of child labor such as slavery, physical torture, trafficking and prostitution. Extensive criminal networks make substantial profits by engaging children in commercial sex work, smuggling, stealing, and the distribution of drugs and weapons. The existence of street children can be found in almost every part of the world and the majority of them reside in the urban areas of developing countries. In recent years, the problem has been becoming much worse due to economic problems, political changes, social unrest and degradation of values, family separations and conflicts, natural disasters and the epidemic spread of diseases.
Children are the most beautiful creations of the world. Street children do have rights to food, shelter, education and recreation. We also have certain duties towards street children. Government should also play important roles to eradicate the problems of these distress children. Removing poverty and the financial constraint will help to overcome the sufferings of street children.
